Pitru Dosh Puja is a one-day ritual that begins during the Brahma Muhurta (early morning hours). Here is how this puja is performed:
Ritual Bath in the Godavari
The Puja begins at the Godavari River. Devotees take a ritual bath as a symbolic purification before the puja begins.
Sankalpa — Stating the Intention
The Pandit conducts the ‘Sankalp,’ in which the devotee’s name, gotra (lineage), birth details, and the purpose of the puja are formally stated. This connects the puja to that particular ancestor-lineage.
Ganesh Puja
To ensure that religious rituals are completed without any obstacles, Lord Ganesha is invoked first. No Vedic ritual begins without this invocation.
Navagraha Puja
